My wife and I have lived in Hartford for 30 years. We have a daughter, and son-in-law, who live in Worcestershire and have a very active three and a half year old boy. I was a GP in the Weaverham Surgery for nearly thirty years, and was Senior Partner there when I retired in 2013. When I retired, I felt I still wanted to serve the community in some way. A vacancy arose for a Parish Councillor at Hartford and I thought that this would be an opportunity to get involved with local matters. I was co-opted onto the council in November 2013. I have found the post interesting and varied and have been amazed by the amount of work that goes on behind the scenes. There are many long serving Councillors and they, along with the Parish Clerk, have helped and guided me to understand the functions of Hartford Parish Council.

My main interest is music and singing in particular. I am in two choirs, the Rivendell Singers and also Sandiway Church choir, where I have worshipped for the last 32 years. My wife and I are also keen narrow- boaters and enjoy walking.

With my background in the health service, I try to bring my knowledge to help the community of Hartford. The Council has recently purchased a defibrillator for the village which is available for use by anybody in an emergency situation. Full instructions are posted next to the AED Box. On the advice of North West Ambulance Service, the machine purchased is extremely easy to use, and I hope that we will be able to arrange a training session, with the local ambulance service, for those interested in the near future.
