I originate from Weaverham and my wife Glenys came from Moulton. We were married in 1976 and came to live in Hartford. We have two children, Claire and James. Claire has two children, Brent 5 and Isla 2, and they certainly keep me on my toes! Glenys retired in 2010, after 39 years as a primary school teacher, her last 21 years being spent at Whitegate Church of England Primary School.

I progressed through the local education system and after attending Winsford Verdin Grammar School and Manchester College began working in the transport industry. In 1981, I gained a position within ICI, (which later became Brunner Mond) and latterly Tata Chemicals Europe. My role as Supply Chain Contracts Manager at TCE involved working throughout Europe, Argentina, and Trinidad and Tobago. The work in supply chain procurement was very interesting, whilst providing many challenges. After 32 years within ICI/TCE, and a further two years part time, I retired after 47 years in employment.

Whilst living in Hartford I have been involved in many local community activities. I was the chairman of Hartford County Primary School PTA, a Cub Scout leader (Hartford pack) and I initiated the first involvement of boys in the Hartford NSPCC Rose Fete. I was involved in the 2012 Northwich River Festival and, during the last two years, I have worked with the Northwich Rugby Club in organising the Northwich Community August Bank Holiday four day festival at Moss Farm.

I have always enjoyed dinghy sailing and classic car restoration and, at present, I have a 1978 Land Rover and 1952 and 1954 military Austin Champs (for those old enough to remember them from the Suez crisis). I also have an allotment in the village which helps me to keep fit.

Since coming to live in the village I have enjoyed being part of the community and have made many new friends and acquaintances. I feel it is now time to contribute more time and effort to village life, and support the residents by continuing to keep Hartford an ideal place to live.
